Shared key problem
« on: January 26, 2019, 02:49:43 am »
Hi, I'm in charge of our Enterprise Architect 13.5 installation, with 50 shared keys in a keystore server.
Two o three times per week different users come to me complaining that EA is not starting because is asking again for the installation of a key.

When I go to their desk and look their PC, indeed EA is asking for a key, but if I just press the Add Key button, then select shared option, voila! the last shared key assiged is still there. I just need to select it and close the  window and EA starts again with no further problems.

Has anybody experienced something similar?

Regards,

Geert Bellekens

Are you using the shared key file, or the key service?

Anyway, I suspect that in these cases the network is a bit slow, and the key couldn't be retrieved fast enough.

I've never seen any issues with the key service.

I have same issue with KeyStore services.
Some users have this problem several times.
Have asked Sparx (registerd support) but didt get any solution.

Geert has probably hit on the problem.  If you run procmon (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/procmon) you'll probably see the call to the key server timing out.

For most times, when our users get this missing key dialog-box, they have been trying to start EA  in an non company location with no network access to the company internal network. And then when they are back at the office, they got this Key question again.
The key-service adr is stored in the registry EA400 xxxx, but it seams that EA is stupid and dont try that automatically before ask the user for a key.
So manually select Add Key, and select the shared key-store shows the correct settings, just ok/ok the it working, to next time the user is trying to start EA out off office.
