Bugs in build 586
« on: December 12, 2002, 04:31:20 am »
Hi Geoff,

I just started using build 586 in a new project after a long periode of using the 3.1 version in my previous project. I noticed a couple of changes / bug.

Change / bug: in 3.1 I was able to include elements in a system boundary box which moved when the box was moved on a diagram. I cannot seem to find this behaviour anymore (tried changing z-order). Is this intended.

Bug: when I shallow copy a diagram that includes associations between two nodes, my newly created diagram includes two similar associations for each association of the source diagram.

Bug: when I converted an old project to the new EA DB version, the RTF generation toggle "embed diagram in document" was not set anymore in the converted project.

?: When I generate RTF documentation, the diagram views are traversed, but it now shows a kind of snow instead of the contents. Is this meant to happen, functionally everything works.

From 3.1 onwards, a lot of my requests have been processed into EA. So EA still rocks.

Greetings,
Tjerk

Hi Tjerk,

I had a look at these and:

1. The boundary acting as a group container should still work OK. It is on by default - but you should check : View/Options/Diagram/Behaviour to make sure the 'Auto Group Elements' check box is ticked - just in case it has changed.

2. The shallow copy problem will be fixed in the next build - out in a day or two (build 587)

3. I couldnt duplicate the RTF embedded images problem either. I checked an old project, upgraded it and re-checked, but it remained the same. So Im not sure what the actual circumstances were that could cause this.

4. I havent seen the 'snow' effect you mention. The diagram should show very briefly and move on - maybe it is not completing the draw before it moves on to the next item?

Hope this helps, build 587 will be out early next week,

Cheers,
Geoff Sparks

Hi Geoff,

1. Hmmm, guess I checked that box a long time ago in my previous project, didn't know anymore that this was a setting. Still works indeed.

2. Thanks for the bugfix!

3. RTF problem is minor, I don't want to spent any time on it. Neither should you if it is not on the surface already.

4. Snow effect might come with the speed of display changes. Currently working on a laptop with a "not so fast" screen. Let me see if I can verify this.

Just convinced another client of the usability of EA. He would like forward / reverse engineering of sequence diagrams (saw that in TogetherJ), any plans for that?

Greetings,
Tjerk
