Trying Again - Sparx Doesn't Answer Anymore...
« on: July 23, 2003, 05:27:44 am »
You know, I am becoming very disappointed with the lack of attention to Java questions and requests that are put out here on the board. I have asked questions on package generation, MDA and other such topics and it seems that when it comes to Java, things just have a way of not getting answered. I can understand that perhaps the Sparx guys aren't familiar with or crazy about Java even...but, a lot of us are going out on limbs in the Java world to promote EA - it would be nice to see simple questions answered. I can live with a date in the future - but it would be nice to have the date!

I see that other people have asked the same questions about generating Java packages. This is a CRITICAL need - not a fanciful whimsical request!!!! Our use of EA is being severely hampered by this lack of support...Does ANYONE have ANY idea about when this will be supported? I'm getting tired of being hammered on this and not getting any support from the tool vendors on top of it...l

Thanks in advance (I hope),

Chana

Hi,

It is definitely our intention to address the problems you allude to as soon as possible.

Our primary focus for the next release of EA (3.60) has been to include a comprehensive code generation engine using customizable templates. Combined with the UML Patterns and UML Profiles support in EA, this will give a framework for generating a diverse set of solutions from a UML model. It will also allow for generating code according to whatever standards and company policies you work under.

Directly after the release of  EA 360, we will be concentrating on improving support for things like:

  • package generation
  • multiple classes per file
  • nested namespaces
  • synchronisation of nested classes

These are definitely all planned, and we would hope to have them cleared up over the next couple of months.

Best Regards,

Geoff Sparks
