Author Topic: Where's EA-Req Pro (from World EIT) (Read 13306 times)

When I was first looking around the web for stuff about EA, I found World EIT's EA-ReqPro, and add on for EA that deals with requirements.
I downloaded the manual and printed it, so I know it exists.
Now I can't find the site to download the add-in, and since I'm not on the same PC I can't use my History to find it - doh!
Searching for it through Google came up with a blank.

Andrew,

Try http://www.world-eit.net/ea/index.shtm (although when I just tried I couldn't get to the site - perhaps it's down for maintenance).

If you're interested in EA-ReqPro send a msg to Steve_Straley - he's a regular on the EA forums. Last I heard EA-ReqPro was in beta, and can only be downloaded by registered beta testers - but I'm sure Steve can give you more up to date info than me.

Oh well that's good - it's not just me! I'll try the site again tomorrow, and get in touch with Steve in the meantime.
I'm so impressed with EA, and I'm using it on a medium sized project, but I like the sound of ReqPro, as I need all the help I can get with the requirements!

Andrew (and others),

Well... lots have happened so here's the official status of things.

The REAL name of the product is EA-RequirementControl. We are still slating a release sometime this month (we hope). We've finished RTF generation classes and have recently added PDF generation. We're testing these new classes out at the moment. Once they are tested we'll finish up on all the UP document generation based on the Template Builder.

Also, we've spun off this group to form a new company dedicated to these types of tools and processes. We're still putting all of the pieces together including sales offices (a new one in the UK!!!) and white papers for the new web site. We've also added a discussion board. So now that that is working, I'm VERY pleased to announce we are ready for general viewing.

For all information, support, questions and other stuff regarding our products, services, seminars, training, et cetera, please check out our new home at:

Again, this will be an on-going work in progress but I reviewed most of the stuff over the weekend and most everything has been transfered over to this new site.

Congratulations on forming the new company, looks like you're making progress into an area of great opportunity.

Can you clarify how the three companies are related and how they will work moving forward (Worled eIT, Sparx, and EPG)?

I'm trying to develop a business case to move to the EA Tool Set and in order to do so I need to point to some sources of information. Right now it's scattered across the various sites - not to mention I can no longer pull up the World eIT site.

I'm trying to understand the development/relase timeline of your products, as the full integrated suite is the compelling story, when comparing to say, the Rational Suite.

Sorry for the broad, general question, but any ammunition to develop my case would be appreciated.

Can you send me a private message with more detailed contact information?

EPG is a division of World-eIT. World-eIT uses the tool set developed by EPG to develop their own consumer-based product offering (like accounting). Therefore, you don't have to worry about WEIT.

As you can see on our vision statementm off our web site, we are going to work with the direction set forth by Sparx and to offer those enterprise-wide products that, in conjunction with EA, make COMPLETE sense from enterprise-wide EA-UP paradigm/process. EA-RequirementControl is the first in this series. Therefore, the business case to move to EA and our product offerings should be driven by need, functionality, and price. I don't know what your three issues here are pertaining to these three points and can't elaborate upon at this time until I know more (hence the private email). In addition, I can't speak for Geoff and his crew, but for EPG, we are doing everything we can to support their efforts and that between the two companies, we will have ALL that you will need.

As far as EPG and our development/release dates, I won't say. I remember the tragedy of the Osborne and that was enough for me. I will tell people what we are working on and where we are in the development process (I've done so here quite bluntly). And, by going to our site, you can tell what is not only next in the pipeline (the call to Beta testers is a good indication) but can also tell what IS the product offering (you can see that in the menu options AS WELL AS the listing of the products in our newly opened Discussion Pages).

Suffice to say that our goal is to have a truly Integrated Enterprise Suite of tools, consisting of our product offerings and EA. Another goal is to offer a clear choice to the marketplace depending on the needs of that marketplace with regards to true enterprise project development, documentation, and management processes. I believe that incorporating tools that deal with Six Sigma (or even CMI) and Business AS IS modeling (like Pro Activity and/or BP Win) that OUR combined solution sets the standard of an integrated and COMPLETE suite that can not be matched by "others".

So, I try your web site and it is down for revision. We are trying to set up some standards both procedural and tool-wise for our future eBusiness development. We have already standardized on EA but need something more in the way of gathering and tracking requirements. When do you think it will be possible to evaluate your product? When do you think your website will be available? I think it's great that EA will be supported via other software companies and look forward to seeing what you have.

For those of us unfamiliar with your project, can you explain a little bit about what benefits your EA add-on will provide, while we're waiting for the Web site to come back up?

I'm curious to hear about the functionality that your product will provide that is not included in Enterprise Architect.

We've modified everything and added a ton including new White Papers and Fact Sheets, brochures, training seminars, a product tour, the User Manual, and the product itself. In the time being, if you check earlier in this thread you can get the general idea of what's going on with this first product.

I just tried the link www.EnterpriseProcessGroup.com and it worked OK for me. There's a blurb right on the homepage saying that the RequirementControl product is released and can be purchased online immediately. The price appears to be $295 annually.

As other poster have said, the new company link is working fine.

I tried out the old version of EA ReqPro (or whatever it was exactly called back then) and it was an extremely bad piece of software. Sorry to not be so positive but I didn't get it to work at all and I'd be quite aprehensive about spending any cash on it (or its replacement).

Steve (& co) should concentrate on a product *or* a globally domainting company. It has some great ideas but this is software in its infancy. (sorry Steve, merely my observation).

I also gave it a try but found it too confusing to figure out. My time ran out and my time to evaluate requirement gathering programs. We plan on sticking with word. Had hopes this would work out but don't have time to figure all this out the hard way - sorry.
