New EA UI Plug-in  - User Group, Interested?
« on: March 07, 2007, 04:49:07 am »
Hello,

We have been developing a new EA plug-in for User Interfaces and are close to our first alpha release. We are interested in getting additional people on the user group so are asking for anyone who is willing to help us by providing feedback on it's current features and usability.
We are particularly keen to hear from anyone in the UI design field, so if this is you please visit our website
www.screenarchitect.com and register.

John,

Initially, yes. The plug-in development plan sees client server UI's being added further down the track.

What we are aiming to do is allow users a much richer environment than the current EA to mock-up and prototype User interfaces. Initially we have targeted basic functionality like (but not limited to):

1. Drag and drop of controls onto a design surface.
2. The ability to link from one page to another.
3. The abiility to generate prototypes that can be used to allow users to click through the mocked up application and test the usability.
4. Tracabilty back to the underlining EA model e.g. all screen elements are automatically created as elements in EA.

That's a bit of a taster of some of the things we have been working on.

When I mention 'controls', I mean as in rules enforced by the EA tool: When I violate a UML construct or rule, I should be notified. So far, I'm either perfect  ;) or EA is simply a broad database that allows me to hang myself if I so choose.  To think of converting this to code with so many duplicate names is horrifying. :-[
