automatic backup
« on: December 15, 2005, 01:45:46 am »
Is there any possibility to launch automatic/command line back-up of a DBMS repository, to a local file.

I would like to make night backups to an Oracle repository.
The first impression shows that onl;y via the automation interface is possible to do that, but it seems a rather error prone approach. What I need is to set up an automatic data transfer between an Oracle repository and a local EAP file.

Did anybody succed to do that?

Does Sparx intend to introduce this feature in the next releases?

Thaks in advance for any contribution!

Why don't you use standard backup tools?

Because if the server is down (no back-up) I will still need a lot of time to restore the server. Using a EAP file will permit me to continue the work while the server is restored. I know the EAP files are access databases, but I hope there is a possibility to schedule a data transfer functionality, that is actually implemented.

Thanks anyway.

Currently I know only the manual Data Transfer from EA's menu. Sparx should know whether this can be accessed by automation...
