Import test cases to the EA Testing Workspace
« on: July 25, 2008, 09:04:43 pm »
Hi all,

I have following problem.

I have defined Integration test cases outside of Enterprise Architect in a text file and I would like to import the data to the EA Testing Workspace.
Unfortunately, I have to do that periodically since the text file is the source of the information and it is managed (mastered) by separate Integration test team. Updating the data manually is a huge effort and it is not acceptable because of our project time frame.

Format of the file is xml but it is not important, because I can convert the file to any kind of format understandable by EA.

Is there any chance to import the data?

Thanks,
David.

Have you had a look at the CSV Import/Export?

I have used this for importing third party Requirements and beleive you maybe able to do the same for Test Cases by limiting the default types.

To define a specification, select the Project | Import/Export | CSV Import/Export Specifications menu option.

The related help on this topic should set you on the right track...

The only other option I have used is a direct insert into the related tables. After first entering some sample data and exporting.

Hope this helps
