UML for the blind and  visual impaired
« on: May 03, 2013, 06:26:30 pm »
Hi,
Have been using Enterprised Architect for a while and really like it.
We have another developer in the office that is blind and we are looking for solutions so that they can read the UML diagrams.

Does anybody know if there are any tools about for this?

Many thanks

Interesting. Probably an embossed printout of UML diagrams would not make too much sense? The best approach would be to print the elements and relations in Braille. But honestly I have no clue how a blind person builds an "image" of a UML model in his brain.

Unfortunately the accessible UML is crashing and hasn't under gone any development since 2005.

So if anybody know of any tools that might, please let me know..

Thanks

So, the page that you linked to says that in hindsight they would generate a HTML document. Obviously only suitable for reading the model, but how does EA's HTML generation work for that?

Hi,
The HTML gets generated, however it has not alt text and as it using images that doesn't help..

 :(

So any suggestions would be great.
