Feature request: Manage locks dialogue box
« on: August 07, 2009, 08:08:31 am »
When managing locks the dialogue box (see below) is too small, and provides insufficient information.

This is a feature request to
  • Make the dialogue box resizable
  • Add information so that the element can be associated with the packages that it is defined in
  • or, provide some means of filtering elements, or navigating to a specific element
  • quick key on element name, etc

This applies to quite a few dialogs throughout EA. There seems to be a real lack of usability engineering in this area.
No, you can't have it!

Actually the options
"Find in diagrams"
or
"Find in Project Browser"
would be most useful

Seconded! (Or thirded, or fourthed, or whatever.)

Locks do sometimes need to be managed manually and the current dialog does not let you do that very effectively, either as a regular user (manage own locks) or as a "security manager" (manage all locks).

The current dialog lets you select multiple elements (or all) and "unlock selected".
A tree view would be more useful here, along with the options "unlock selected only" and "unlock recursive".

And for full lock management functionality, add the display switches "unlocked only", "locked only" and "locked and unlocked", plus buttons to lock the selected elements.
This, I stress, is nowhere near as important as getting a more useable unlock dialog.
My theories are always correct, just apply them to the right reality.

Really?

Anyhow, the suggestion gets my vote.
