View creation by RDF import

When you import a number of RDF files into a root node you appear to get one of every view type, until you have the whole set and from then on, simple views only.  This seems a fairly whimsical approach.

Does anyone from Sparx feel like commenting on this approach?

A caveat - you need to start with an empty repository.

It's history.

A long time ago, when EA was still a baby you couldn't set view icons. The base model came with that set of views and the view icon displayed came from the package id.

Most of the time, you don't see any sign of that. The GUI for creating a package at that level automatically assigns a view icon. Apparently the RDF import doesn't try to assign any icon so you see the very old behavior. The same would probably happen for packages created from the API, importing XMI from another tool and many other sources.
