RedefinedToolbox for Package Diagrams?
« on: November 16, 2018, 02:53:11 am »
We are using EA 13 (13.0.1306). For my company I modeled special toolboxes (restricted
elements and relationships compared to standard UML) and diagram types (just derived from
standard UML, no special stereotype profiles, with one exception). I used toolbar profiles
and diagram profiles, respectively.

I want to use the adapted diagram types the newly adapted toolboxes. According to
https://www.sparxsystems.com.au/enterprise_architect_user_guide/10/extending_uml_models/overriding_default_toolboxes.html
we can override most predefined UML diagram types.

With some astonishment however, I noticed, that UML::Package is missing.
Aren't Package diagrams also part of the UML? Which diagram type from
the above page would be needed to redefine the toolbox for the Package diagram
(if possible at all)?

Regards
Frank

Ha, I noticed too.
Might be the UML::Metamodel or UML::Profile, but you would have to test it to be sure.
It can also be an omission in the help file.

If you can't figure it out I'm sure Sparx support will be able to help you out.

Try "UML::Package". If it works, the help is wrong. If it doesn't work, it's probably a bug.

There is, in Release 14.1, a UML::Package Toolbox, although the published Help does not yet reflect that.

Originally, Package diagrams were populated using the UML::Class Toolbox, which is why a UML::Package Toolbox was not in the list you have seen in the EA Release 10 Help.

I think the Package Toolbox was released after EA 13.0, but the best thing to do is - as KP suggests - try referring to UML::Package and see if it is recognized. If not, and depending on what you are doing with the Package diagram, refer to the UML::Metamodel or UML::Profile Toolboxes as Geert suggests, or the UML::Class Toolbox.

And notify Sparx Support too.
