Show hidden relationships (connectors)
« on: June 09, 2011, 04:35:39 pm »
Hello,
we have quite a few hidden relationships (links, connectors) in a diagram, (because the target elements are not included in the diagram). I know I can view these hidden relationships in the "Relationships" window,  but I do not find this "Relationships" window very user friendly when someone has to use it very often.

Is there some other way how to display the hidden relationships in EA? My idea is that when I click an element then the hidden would appear blurred around the element or something like this.

Thanks
Andy

What you can do is:

Right-Click the element on the diagram you want to show the related elements (including the conectors) for. In the menu navigate to 'Add' | 'Related Elements...'. A dialog opens which allows to configure to add the related elements. I think this is what you are asking for.

Cheers,
VL

Hi VL,

this is a nice feature, thanks for the reply. I would like something like this,  but more dynamic. That's is not to show the hidden related elements permanently, but just for a moment and per one mouse click only.

E.g. when a developer is viewing the diagram, she wants to 1. click the element, immediately see, what hidden related elements are and optionally 2. click the hidden related element to see it's properties or view it in the Project Browser. It's implemented in the "Relationship" window already, but IMHO not user friendly if the developer wants to click more than 10 elements in the diagram  :(

Anyway, thanks for your hint, it's an alternative to the "Relationship" window.

Ahh, I have just stumbled upon "Traceability" window, which is nicer than the "Relationship" window and I think it would satisfy our needs.

None of these solutions work in version 15 as of 8/6/2019. I cannot find a way to un-hide a relationship line once it is hidden. Anyone?

ribbon | Layout | Appearance | Set Visible Relationships (Ctrl+Shift+I)

or

ribbon | Start | Portals | Windows | Trace | Relationships

or

ribbon | Start | Portals | Windows | Explore | Element Browser

For those last two, you then select an element and see what relationships it has, right-click each relationship in turn and make it visible. The first one you can just click "All" and "OK" to show everything.
