Export searches
« on: September 17, 2021, 03:59:57 am »
Has anyone ever used this dialog? Besides the fact that it falls under the category "Not sizeable like any other EA window" you can not even scroll the names. There are at some dozens "Last 90 Days/Month/Week" searches. The "Recently <something>" can only be guessed.

Even more strange: I just restarted EA and now that list does not include the searches from my MDG. If this were a horse I'd rather ask for shooting it than seeing suffer it's pain any longer.

P.S. That's probably because I formerly saw the test variants from my internal searches with the same name. Please shoot that horse!

Wait! The madness has no end here. I imported the searches that I put in my MDG before (so I can eidt them under My Searches). They have a GUID (the U is for Unique, you know). Now when I select the Export the searches appear twice. Yes! And when I export them the file holds two times each search. With the same GUID. Unique, isn't it?

A black hole. These unique searches seem to lurk around and despite showing my modified search EA executes the "old" search with the same GUID. The Windoze remedy: close and re-open the application. Why have a unique ID if you don't check for its uniqueness? Why have a test department? No reason to have one. Users can do the tests as well. There are no competitors where they could run to.
