Apparently, I did (miss something)...
As a user (and sometime maintainer) of Project Management applications for nearly 50 years, it came as somewhat of a surprise to find that Sparx views:
The Gantt View's primary use is to display the allocation of resources to elements in the repository and to manage the work breakdown structure.
Only Filters are available to show only elements that have a particular status or more generally by using the Filter Bar and finding elements that contain the specified filter text in a particular column. It is also possible to filter the display by Start or Completion date or to just show overdue tasks.
Unfortunately, the column sorting options are not available in Gantt view.Wikipedia says...
A Gantt chart is a type of bar chart that illustrates a project schedule. This chart lists the tasks to be performed on the vertical axis, and time intervals on the horizontal axis. The width of the horizontal bars in the graph shows the duration of each activity. Gantt charts illustrate the start and finish dates of the terminal elements and summary elements of a project. Terminal elements and summary elements constitute the work breakdown structure of the project. Modern Gantt charts also show the dependency (i.e., precedence network) relationships between activities. Gantt charts can be used to show current schedule status using percent-complete shadings and a vertical "TODAY" line."Notionally, A Gantt Chart is about dates. Resources come into the picture only to assist in the determination of the start and finish dates (and any splits that may be required) of the task (in the background - typically by one or other resource allocation smoothing algorithms).
It could be argued that a Gantt "View" is NOT a Gantt "Chart", but I will invoke the "
Bjelke-Petersen Duck Test" in modelling... "if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it'll get shot like a duck, my word it will!" It's a Gantt Chart, !
It is, effectively, vapourware (as qwerty said).
NOTE: I'm not expecting it to be a project management tool! We need to supply the values that would provide the metadata for the view from another source, but I do expect to be able to apply the usual options to it such as being able to view the project schedule in a coordinated way.
