Change the default search to a custom MDG

Hello,

A group of users is using a shared EA repository (hosted in Postgres DB) using a custom MDG which includes searches.
When they open the model search (Ctrl + F), they would like to have their MDG selected instead of Common Searches.
Is this feasible or would this be a new option/feature?

You might already know, but you can call your own search by Repository.RunModelSearch().
On the current EA, it is a solution to create an add-in to call the searches. Users can call the searches from the Extention Ribbon.
(And further more, creating add-ins with <<javascriptaddin>> does not need to install DLLs.)

I don't think that's what Guillaume meant - certainly, it's not what I'm looking for.  What I'm after is to be able to suppress the standard search list with a list from our profile so that by default the profile list is visible.  At present, you can't suppress the standard set and so our users have to navigate to the profile ones.

Guillaume can advise if he meant something else than what I have described.

Yes, as you wrote, my idea is not replacing the default search rules. All of us know that currently there is no way to replace or refrain the default rules.

I failed to note that "By using the Add-in, users do not need to use EA's default Find feature. As a result, users do not need to see the default rules.".

You suggestion is interesting yet it doesn't fulfill the need (Paolo is right): users only use the MDG installed on their shared EA project i.e. they won't install any addin.
The aim is to keep it simple i.e. users simply open EA Model Search and instead of scrolling to the appropriate list of searches, having the right default search group would be much better. In a way these groups could be managed like the available MDG technologies: one could disable /hide search groups and change the default one

We force our perspective onto the users by linking a perspective set to a user group.

It would be a good idea to include a search selection in a perspective. That seems very doable to me.
