How to export high resolution from WebEA?
« on: August 12, 2024, 05:53:56 pm »
Dear All,

Typically, we provide the save file from Sparx, but I believe it would be beneficial to establish a more efficient process for exporting diagrams from WebEA. Do you have any suggestions?

Can you explain a bit more in detail what exactly you are trying to achieve?
WebEA is only the web-client, not the source of the diagrams, so it seems weird to try and export diagrams from WebEA.

Our company procedures are written in BPMN and published using webEA. Currently, the only method for obtaining high-resolution diagrams is to save them as PNG files using Sparx; utilising the web browser alone does not enable the production of high-resolution outputs.

You could try to export them from Sparx as SVG files.
There is an option "Publish => Diagram Image => Save => Save to File" which opens the explorer window to choose not only the name but also the type of the file.

You are explaining what you are doing, and what isn't working, but not what your goal is.
Why are you trying to get high resolution diagram images from WebEA? What is the purpose of these images? In what process are they used?

I want users to be able to do that, not just me, as unfortunately, installing and using Sparx is not scalable for thousands of users.

Hello rydrecri,

I think that there are two options.

- change the user preference 'Scale Saved Bitmaps to' to generate bigger diagram images. When a user saves the changes in diagrams, EA automatically generates a diagram image for the WebEA, and the option is affected to the result. But you need to request all users who modify the diagrams to change the user preference.
- Use EA SaaS, and if a user wants to get high resolution images, he/she uses the SaaS and generates images as ea0522 wrote. You do not need to let all users install EA.
