Set Up Cross References
It is possible to set up a cross reference (or Custom Reference) from one or more elements in a diagram to another element or to a diagram selected in the Project Browser. You can also review the existing cross references on an element, using the Context References dialog or the Traceability window.

Open the diagram that contains the elements that will reference the target element or diagram.

In the Project Browser, right-click on the target element or diagram (the object of the cross reference) and select:
The Set up references dialog displays.

Click on the checkbox against each element that is to refer to the target element.

Optionally, in the Comment field, type the purpose of the references.

Click on the OK button to set the references and close the dialog.

Either:
The Custom References dialog displays, showing a list of elements that have been set as cross references for the selected element.

Optionally, open the Properties dialog for a referenced element by clicking on it and clicking on the Open button. Similarly, open a referenced diagram by clicking on it and clicking on the Open button.

If you have opened a string of diagram links, click on the Home button to return to the original diagram.

| · | You can create cross references from an element on the diagram to a number of elements and/or diagrams in the Project Browser, and from another element on the diagram to different elements and diagrams in the Project Browser |
| · | You cannot create a commented cross reference from one element on the diagram to an element in the Project Browser, and a separate commented cross reference from a different element on the diagram to the same element in the Project Browser |
| · | You can delete a cross reference by selecting it on the Custom References dialog and clicking on the Delete button; cross references are also automatically deleted if the source or target element in the reference is deleted |
| · | You can also add, review and delete cross references on the Cross References tab of the Scenarios page in an element's Properties dialog |
