Exporting as XPDL format for use in ALM 11
« on: May 03, 2012, 08:08:31 pm »
We need a confirmed answer from you w.r.t. the below. We use Quality Centre (ALM11) and it can import models. One of our clients uses your product. Do you have suggestions?

ALM supports 2 Notations:
1. BPMN v 1.1 Business Process Modeling  Notation.
2. EPC v 7.1 (Event-Driven Process Chain) Developed within the ARIS framework. It appears that ARIS of Software AG and VISIO of MS (among others) use this notation.

Models should be exported (for Import to QC) from the modeling tools in one of 2 formats:
1. XPDL 2.0 XML Process definition Language - is a format standardized by the Workflow Management Coalition (WfMC) to interchange business process definitions between different workflow products
2. ARIS XML file formats

I wouldn't expect to get either of those formats out of EA any time soon.

However, you could try exporting to BPMN 2.0 and converting using http://www.businessprocessincubator.com/do/convert/convert-a-webmodeler-file-to-xpdl-2-2.html

It's a commercial service (and not affiliated in any way with Sparx Systems), but it might be worth a try.
