Installer wrongly reports out of disk space
« on: October 18, 2013, 07:14:35 pm »
Hi

Just tried to update to the lates EA 10 version. During installation I got:

"Out of disk space. The highlighted volumes do not have enough disk space available for selected features".

Windows reports 231 GB available spece
EA reports it requires 264 MB
Difference is calculated to 231 GB

Maybe someone forgot to look at the units? :-)

It's likely that something else is going wrong.

Searching for that error online I see that you can get it if you haven't specified an install path (Although this shouldn't be the case because the installer specifies a default path) or the following I found at http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Installation-Licensing/Out-of-disk-space-during-installation-to-another-disk-drive/td-p/3759083

If your drive is showing you have available space, but still getting the 'Out of Space' warning, then it is possible that some of your Windows profile locations are on a server that does not have enough space.

For example, if your My Documents folder is mapped to a network drive and that server does not have enough available space for the install, then you will also receive this error.  You will either need to temporarily remap your profile folders back to your local drive or login as a local administrator user without redirected profile folders during the install.  Afterwards, you can place the settings back to your preferred locations.

You may need to involve your IT for this process.  Good luck!

This problem occurs because the downloaded file must first extract the MSI file before the installation can proceed. The MSI file is usually extracted to one of the following locations:
FOR XP/server 2003  C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\Downloaded Installations
FOR VISTA/Server 2008 C:\Users\AppData\Local\Downloaded Installations

It was exactly server related - I could install on site at my company, but not offside through VPN for some reason.

Issuel solved - thanx!  :)
