System Output: Duplicate profile name: ZF warning
« on: May 09, 2014, 08:36:48 pm »
After the recent upgrade to EA 11, the new system output gives me a message:

WARNING: Duplicate profile name: ZF, detected in technology ID: ZF

This seems to be related to the Zachman Framework extension.

How can this be resolved so I will not see the warning again?

Cheers,

Dave

Look into the MDG folder in the EA programs folder. Move all suspect MDG files away and put them back one by one until the problem happens again. Then you'll have the cause. You could also look into the single files to find the ID therein. It's somewhere right at the beginning.

This is a known issue.  This warning occurs due to a duplicate profile ID in the Zachman Framework and TOGAF MDG Technologies. This will be fixed in the next release of the TOGAF installer, but we cannot say yet when this will be available.

We are not aware of any issues caused by the duplicate ID.  (The same problem would have existed in previous EA versions.  EA 11 added a check for this scenario and now reports a warning message.)

Thanks for the response. I noticed EA 11 reporting the issue now as opposed to previous versions.

There were some issues with some of the MDG technologies in earlier versions i.e. where I needed to run EA as an admin to access MDG functionality.
