Swimlanes revert back to vertical

Something is causing the swimlanes on my diagrams, which an MDG file sets in a diagram profile when diagrams are created, to revert back from horizontal to vertical on instance diagrams, all on their own.  Has anyone else seen this?  Don't know what triggers it yet.
