Usually, "Cancel" means "I don't want to do anything" as in "Cancel"?

Not "Go ahead. Force me to enter something when I don't want to."

Hello.

I can think of at least 3 places where EA shows that system dialog. What is the context?

Hi Simon

I somehow clicked on something I didn't intend to, and got prompted for the DAO thingy, at which point I thought "I don't know what this is - I didn't want to be here - I don't want to enter anything - just cancel".

But "Cancel" kept taking me back to "what DAO do you want" rather than letting me off the hook easily.

I had to "End Tast" using Task Manager to get out of it. I suppose I could have just typed "ASDF" and then figured a way out from there, but "Cancel" should allow the user to exit from whatever they were doing, regardless of context.

 :)

Or was I mistaken in some way with regard to the function of "Cancel"?

Ah, you youngsters...

Can you still reproduce this problem?  Please send the steps to reproduce to support and we can investigate it further.

We need to know exactly which commands you clicked to get stuck in this loop.  Your current description "I somehow clicked on something I didn't intend to" isn't quite clear enough for us to reproduce unfortunately. ;)
