Cannot generate documentation from model
« on: May 07, 2015, 12:28:20 am »
Hello everyone,

I feel this must be some quite obvious misconfiguration of my EA Profession Edition, but I am unable to find what went wrong:

I have a software model containing several Use Cases, a Class Model, a Component Model and some Activity diagrams. Now I would like to generate documentation report -- but the documentation menu options (RTF/DOC/HTML/...) that should appear in the Project Browser menu for documentation (see the left image) or in the drop-down menu for a package (see the right image) are not there ...

I have tried fresh installs of EA 9, 10, and 11 on three different computers that I use and everywhere it is the same. Also, I have tried several different models, and also the default "Example Model", but still I have no luck in getting the appropriate menu displayed. The F8 shortcut does not work as well.

Does anyone have an idea what did I do wrong? I am definitely not an EA expert, and it is likely that I simply forgot to specify something somewhere.

Thanks for any hint ...

It's possible you have selected a Menu Set which hides these menu items.

In EA 12, Open: View | Perspectives > Menu Sets.  To show all available menu options, select the "Complete" menu set.

For help regarding this feature, see:

(Edit: Just realized you said you were working with EA 9, 10 and 11, not 12.)

In EA 11, Open: View | Workspaces and Commands > Commands.  To show all available menu options, select the "Complete" command set.

For help regarding this feature, see:

Thanks Aaron, that was it.

I had just the Software Development command set active and this set does not include Documentation menu ...

Da-da-dum dum dum
Command Set strikes again

Da-da-dum dum dum
Command Set strikes again

Half my menus are gone
Can't get anything done
And I don't know what to do

Hey - it's gonna get you too
Command Set strikes again
My theories are always correct, just apply them to the right reality.

If it was only Command Set. They also got the EAster syndrome to hide menus with each release at another place. Since the very beginning! I guess Sparx is the home of the Easter bunny.
