When copying a package with (for example) create date='22-Aug-16 09:52:28' and Modified date=''22-Aug-16 09:52:29' from package A to package B, the create date is correct (timestamp of now) but the Modified date is incorrect. It is not equal to the create date, but also not equal to the original Modified date. It is even 3 days newer than de original Modified date. After editing the copied package name the Modified date is correct again.
I am using EA v12.1.1230 Corporate Edition.

I am new here, I do not know this issue is already reported (although I have looked for it in the forum articles)

You need to reproduce that issue with the current build (V13). Makes no sense to report a bug for V12. However, such a bug has not been reported here AFAIR.

What you are seeing is actually a copy of the way windows manages copied files in the file system. The Created date is the date of the copy, the modified date is the last modified date of the previous file before copying.

Does this explain why the modified date is different in the copied package compared to the modified date from the original package?
(BTW: except looking to the package properties I cannot trace the file in Windows and check its timestamp.)

I never looked at that, but true: if I make a copy of a single element, it gets created/modified the date of the copy operation. Well, ok. Then, when I make a copy of a package, the Modified Date is preserved and the Creation Date is that of the copy operation. That results in packages/elements where the Modification Date is older than the creation date. Absurd. But I'm used to EAUI.

Did you also notice that the modified date is not really preserved (also in the past, but different)?

Argh. They seem to handle packages and elements differently in general. Packages keep the modified date, elements don't. Consistently inconsistent. I'll shut my eyes again.

You might report that as bug (link bottom right of this page). But Sparxian thinking is somehow skewed compared to us Earthlings. Just tell us here what they replied to your report.
