UML Profile Sync Tagged Values Issue
« on: July 11, 2015, 12:05:34 am »
All,

I created a UML Profile with many new Stereotypes defining the different elements in my architecture. Each Stereotype has two tagged values an ID and a description. All of the Stereotypes I am using existed in old profiles without these tags. I recently removed the old profiles in favor of the new one with the two tags ID and description.

When I am in the Resources tab, I right click on one of my stereotypes and I select Sync Tagged Values and Constraints. When the Synch Profiled Elements GUI pops up, I have no elements in the Actions window and when I click OK nothing happens; the tags are not added to the like stereotyped elements I have in my model. But, if I manually drag the stereotype from the Resources area onto a diagram element with the stereotype and select Apply<<stereotype>> the profile is added with the two tags in the Properties area of the selected element.

Am I using the Sync Tagged Values function wrong? Is there a bug with this function? Is there a problem with the way I deleted old profiles with the same stereotypes and replaced them with a new profile?

Also, is there a way to do the Apply<<stereotype>> function from the Java API? I have successfully applied stereotypes to elements through the Java API, but it does not add the stereotype's profile to the element's properties and does not add the tag values.

Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated!

It might be that you use different MDG versions in which case (IIRC)  the synch will not work. As a work around you could write a script that adds the missing TVs.

Stereotypes with the same name from different profiles are considered to be different stereotypes. You will need to apply the new stereotype to elements with the old stereotype.
