How to add columns with in a Table?

I'm new to EA.  I'm using a table stereotype and when I add columns to the table I can't seem to choose a Data Type for any new columns I add.  I tried adding classes but they do not show up in the Data Type drop down list.  Any help would be greatly appreciated

Check to make sure you have selected the database type.
