ERD's from SQL Server
« on: November 19, 2002, 02:11:41 pm »
I am looking at using EA for some basic documentation of an existing SQL Server database.

Can I connect EA to the database server to produce ERD's without having to manually enter all of the table and field information?

thanks

Hi, Stephen.

The answer is yes!

Download EA's (free) trial version from sparx's web site (http://www.sparxsystems.com.au/), and take a look at "Reverse Engineer ODBC data sources" in the help topics.

In order to familiarize yourself with tips, tricks and issues on this, I would recommed to search this forum for references on "SQL Server", "ODBC" and "Reverse engineer".

Keep us posted if you run into any problem.
