Relative Links in HTML Reports
« on: January 21, 2003, 05:43:50 am »
As part of our implementation of EA as our Analysis and Design repository, I am using the HTML reporting feature to generate a monthly "Design Update" CD-ROM to provided stakeholders and project management with a snapshot of the project. This has been very well received and our prime contractor is marketing the idea as a "best practice" to other clients.

There are times that I need to use links to other documents (usually PDF files) from within the model.  While this works very well within the model repository - I store the documents in the same directory as the EA database - I need an effective way of setting up relative links to the documents that will work from the HTML reports when they are run from a Web site or CD-ROM.

Is there any existing functionality that I am missing? Or, can this be addressed in a future release?

G'day Keith,

I've just tried this for the first time within the model, and don't know if it'll work for your HTML documentation...

Once you've created a hyperlink on a diagram, open it's properties, and change the hyperlink address to a relative address.  Might require changes in the way you store your documents relative to your model repository.

Hope that works...
Cheers and best regards.
