Problem with Root project node

The root porject node (by default called "Views") has few problems.

If you create a diagram directly under that node, make changes and save and reload the project the diagram is gone. Cant recover it or see it in the EA tool.
But when you generate HTML docs you can see the diagram there. so its there in the .EAP file but its not shown.
Has any body found how to recover such diagrams?

Another problem is with the icons... creating package direct under root node has 'closed folder' icon. Once you save, close and reload the project the icon changes to 'simple'.

The cause of the above 2 problems is i guess that the EA has fixed things that can go under root project node.
But our requirement is that we have an architecture diagram with links to other diagrams and packages directly under root node.
