XML Crash On Model Load - Any Suggestions?
« on: May 11, 2004, 08:11:04 am »
I did a seach through the message boards for this, and could not find an answer, if anyone has a suggestions please post it.

I am running EA Build 725.  I can start the application with no problem, and create models.  When I attempt to open a model a co-worker has created that contains a number of XSDs, I get the following error:

"Error creating XML Parser" with just an "OK" button.  Clicking that button causes the application to crash with the following error alert:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!

Program: C:\Program Files\Sparx Systems\EA\EA.exe

abnormal program termination

With just an "OK" button on it.  Of course clicking the OK button completes the crash.

1) Is there any way to fix this?
2) Shouldn't the application fail a bit more gracefully?

I have attempted a clean re-install. This means that I use the uninstaller to remove the application.  Then I go and delete any remaining files in the file system.  Then I go into the registry and remove any informaiton it put in there.

Any ideas what could fix this?

Thanks

Bruce

Sorry to publicly solve my own problem, but it would seem the IS goons where I work have happily removed all of the XML parsing portions of Windows due to some manic security concern.  Re-installing this stuff from the Windows update site has fixed this problem.

Sorry for the noise, I had improperly assumed that my OS had not been configured by chimps.
