multi-language support
« on: May 17, 2004, 08:17:27 am »
Helo,
I have such a dilema (sic! i'm terribly sorry for mentioning about that as eng.):

I have to translate my analitical model (in EA) into second language. For obvious reasons I made it in my native language and have plans to keep it and develop in a future. But for "certain" reasons I have to have it also in other language.
I decide to have two models but its very dificult to develop them at the same time

Have You any better idea?

Hi Gobo,
not so long ago I tried to localize my models to have them in German. I spent several hours until I simply decided to keep it in English since this is an accepted business language for IT purposes. Localization will stay a dilemma (between the two horns of bull  :o - the translation of dilemma!). You can choose which of the horns will kill you. This problem is not bound to EA. It's a general problem  :-[

You may try to use the localization features of EA but that won't bring you much further. For example I noticed that changing the severity codes to another language confuses some dialogs. Also it's a tedious work since many terms are fixed to English and translating them brings more confusion than it helps.

I'm really sorry. All I can say: good luck  :'(
