729 Instability?
« on: June 18, 2004, 12:40:58 pm »
After working with the 4.00 trial version for a few weeks, I just purchased a license and downloaded the 729 version.  But, using version 729,  I am getting random crashes to the desktop when trying to open and edit properties of a class.  The model I am working on is the same one I developed using the trial version.  (without ever seeing this problem.)

I've tried accessing properties in all ways possible (From the Project View, Right-click diagram, Double-click diagram, ...)  But, no matter which way I access them, EA will randomly crash.  (Some times it works fine.  Later try and access the same class and a crash occurs).  The crash occurs when trying to open the property window for the class, or for just Attributes or Operations.  After the crash, If I reopen the same model and try the same operation it works fine.  Is this a known problem?  Does anyone know any workarounds?

Thanks in advance,
John

You should open a support case with Sparx then. I'm pretty shure they can help you to recover you database.

I have 6 engineers in my team alone all working with 729 corporate to a mysql db. 729 is in fact the most stable, fullest release yet - apart from C++ code gen issues (which I am persuing) we are extremely happy with EA - especially as our project is a flagship project for EA within the company i work for.

Thanks.  I think there was something wrong just on my end.  I took the advice of thomaskilian and opened a support incident.   Sparx has been very responsive and helpful. After a clean install I am having much better results.  Something must have gone bad with the original install.
