Hurray to Sparx, erm Sparks

Yo,

slightly disappointed about the OMG brick heads, chaning the appearance of component itmes on component diagrams ... I really loved to find the option to show components as UML 1.5 components.

Great ... hope the other UML tools follow that.

Anyone has an idea why the UML *gurus* desided that wiered?

I usually have UCs, classes and components on one diagram ... having those three building blocks show their UML type even from a meter away is great.

Merging classes and components into the same shape is IMHO a really BAD(TM) idea.

The reason cited for changing the component icon was that the old icon was difficult to resize (read didn't resize very well) in certain tools (read guess which tool named after a flower).

Yeah, I wandered through the OMG side last night and found that reason as well.

Really strange ...

It's complety nonsensical IMHO to change the standard notation in order to support an inferior tool (especially the one that gives you thorns).

If it were that difficult to resize the other tools would have the same problem.   EA doesn't seem to have that problem.  OMG must be in bed with that other nameless company.

errr.....given the top 3 bods deciding on UML pretty much own the other company then it isnt really suprising that OMG merely 'fronts' the standard - but everyone knows who pulls the strings....
