data model arrow: bachman diagrams
« on: June 25, 2004, 05:56:47 am »
I am new to this product, so I think it is a stupid question, but anyhow I cannot find how to do this:
I and my users are used to diagrams with describes the 1-many relation ships. The current arrow is in the wrong direction.   ---> means in my mind that you have a 1-n relation. How can I reverse this arrow so I get 'normal' bachman diagrams? Crow feets or something like that are also ok, anything but an arrow 'in the wrong direction".

In bachman diagrams the --> symbol means 1-n relations. If you reverse the arrow you get an an error message.

I solved the problem by switching to Microsoft Visio 2003, this has a nice feature for data schema modelling. It even adds foreign keys automatically.  (Entity Relationship shapes). But also in Visio you cannot use --> for 1:n relationships, but you can use "Crow's Feet" for showing 1-n relationships. This solved my problem.
