Tools disappearedIconix
« on: August 16, 2004, 09:23:50 am »
Hey all.
I'm new to EA so I'm probably missing alot but here's my problem...

As I was fooling around with the features, just checking stuff out, I selected View->Visual layouts->Iconix and confirmed the change. As stated in the confirmation dialog two things happened: (1) The layout of panels changed considerably and (2) ALOT of tools in most toolboxes disappeared. Iconix layout wasn't really my cup of tea so I switched back to default and expected the original visual layout to be fully restored but no dice! Panels was pretty much restored but the tools are still nowhere to be found. In particular, the Use Case toolbox lost 50%+ of its tools and I just can't find a way to make them come back. The ones I miss most is the "extends" association and the "system boundary".

So...I have two questions:

1. Is there a way to make tools come back to their corresponding toolboxes
2. Is this a bug?

Thanks

Wel...as always: You spend a considerable time looking for a solution to a problem, checking "everything", browsing FAQ's etc and then, just after having given up and posted a "PLEASE HELP" on a forum, it takes less than two minutes and then you stumble upon the solution yorself.  ::)

Ah well, I hope I didn't waste anyone's time.

Oh, and in case more people have the same problem here's how to restore the buttons in the toolboxes:

Tools -> Options -> UML Element Toolbox

Check any toolbox that needs to show, then click "Save Folder List". Next, select each folder (tool box) and check/uncheck any button (tool) you wanna see or be rid of. Click "Save button list" and move to the next folder...

Still...shouldn't the default Visual layout be restored as promised?

Maybe  ;D But normally you decide to have a certain layout which you use for every days work. If eventually it gets lost I have to spend some 2 minutes to get back all the windows/tools which normally happens only very seldom.
