Slow export to sourcesafe

Hi:
I'm trying to get set up for team development so that we can evaluate it. I exported my model into Oracle 9i; that worked well. Then today I placed 1 package under sourcesafe. The package contains my requirements and use case model - modestly sized, it translates to about 255 'elements'. The export ran for 4 hours, using 100% CPU most of the time!! Has anyone else experienced this? Could I have missed something obvious? BTW, our network performance for everything else was just fine today.
Any enlightenment would be appreciated.
