Unable to "Connect to Server Repository"
« on: September 07, 2004, 04:34:33 pm »
When I open EA (Corporate Edition on Windows Server 2003) and choose the link to Connect to Server Repository from the Start Page, the application exits immediately and no error is thrown or logged in the Event Log. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing, rebooting, praying the computer gods, ect. I cannot get it to function... any ideas? ???

Did you transfer a model to the repository first? Tools | Data Management  | Data Transfer... The EABase.eap model installed with EA would be a start.

Also an index search for Upsizing in EA help.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Actually, I am in a corporate environment and there are several repositories to connect to, all of which have models. My problem isn't so much with the repository itself... it's out there, and I know it works because there are many others here using EA to connect to it. My problem is that when I attempt to even click the link to connect to it, the application quits... immediately. I have also tried using the File >> Open dialog and putting a check in the box for "Connect to Server" and then clicking on the browse button ("..."). This action exhibits the same behavior... the application simply closes and exits with no warnings or messages.

So if your colleagues already work with repositories you should start asking: what is the difference between my and my colleagues computer environment. Do you miss some rights? Can you access the data source with other tools (e.g. ODBC) without problems? Do you have the same EA version?
