sequence diagrams: messages in fragments
« on: October 22, 2004, 01:53:52 pm »
Hi,
I cannot figure out how to really use fragments in ea.
If I generate e.g. an alt fragment in a sequence diagram, I may extend it size that it covers to or more lifelines.
But if I add new messages, they are not attached to the fragment, but still to the overall diagram. Thus, if I add another message above, the message that was "over" the fragment moves out - in short, the message is not linked to the fragment.
What am I missing? ??? I guess there is a way to make the fragment a real UML element with embedded messages that belong to the fragment, not just a box shown in the diagram?

I've not found a way to do anything automatic with the fragments. The only thing you can do (AFAIK) is to right click on a message and select the Start New Message Group option - this will allow you to break up the messages - its a small help but you'll have to keep manually moving the fragments around.
