Communication messages belong to diagram?
« on: November 03, 2004, 09:26:48 am »
I intend to model systems and their interfaces via a collaboration / communication diagram. I want to model them first at the level of a business process view, and then I want to be able to create a larger overall view of how all of the systems interact.

This has been a little difficult because I can model the systems and their associations and messages in the smaller diagram, but when I try to drop the same objects in another diagram, their associations are preserved, but I can't get the messages to display. Is there any way to get the messages I create in one diagram to show up in another diagram?

I found another post about using an interaction occurrence, but I can't figure out how to do this, and I don't know if that's really what I'm looking for. Help!

How do you think the messages should appear? One diagram reflects a certain way object communicate to each other. The next diagram will be completely different since you want to show another behaviour.

If you are simply missing the messages (another interpretation of your question) that you typed in a free text: if you add methods to the called objects, you have them in the drop down menu. Free text will not be available elsewhere.
