Hi,
I don't have a problem using stereotypes. Have you switched off stereotype display? What version do you use?

I also have problem with using custom stereotypes.
I just created <<Risk>> used Comment as base. Now I don't see my risk and can't find comment.
Where did I miss something?
Thanks, Shimon

Shimon,

A comment is the same as a note. You create one by clicking on the green Note icon on your menu toolbar. To set the stereotype, you need to select the comment, bring up the dockable Properties window ("View / Properties") and type the value in the Stereotype field under General Settings. I'm not sure how useful it will be to change the appearance of a comment though, because the new image will stop you from seeing the text.

Julio,

I can't tell from your post what you might be doing wrong. Can you e-mail me with a step-by-step of exactly how you are creating your new stereotype please? Thanks.

Thanks. I got it.
And yes you are correct changing image doesn't do anything good. Is it possible to have image just in a conner of the note?

Shimon,
this is not possible. I recall a request some months ago but there was probably not enough support from other users. The icons are stored in the UserImages.bmp where you may
modify existing ones. But you can't  add new ones.

Just a clumsy workaround, but perhaps you could tag all your <Risk> notes by linking with another (stereotyped?) element, perhaps with image icon of a red !.

They would certainly stand out on a diagram then.

Perhaps use the Trace association, or is there anything better ?

Then you could probably use the matrix view to find all notes linked to a <Risk>, though I have not played with this aspect.

So this is second-order semantics; rather than modifying the element itself, you link to an element that changes the meaning.

joliveira,
I forgot to mention: the stereotype display can be switched on the diagram properties.

Edit: Just vice versa - once I defined a stereotype for (as I did) a class, I was not able to remove the stereotype display. The switch in the diagram properties did not work (only for predefined ones like boundary) . Even deleting the definition from the uml/stereotypes left the icon as it was. Weird  ???

Hi,

as described it is possible to assign emf's to stereotypes to change appearance of the "box" notation of for instance a class.

Is it also possible to change the visual appearance of let's say an interface lollipop in case of providing a stereotyped interface?

I don't think it is... Obviously, it would be soooo useful (for us... ;))

Thanks,
Mike
