EA 4.5 Issues

Hi,

I see some issues after installing EA 4.5, namely:

(1) The registration key was deleted (or is maybe sitting in another location), which is not huge, but annoying, when Corporate IT needs to be involved.

(2) Visual Layouts: while a user layout can be saved and also loaded, the menu item "Default Layout" stays checked. This may be the reason why each time the app is launched, the original layout shows up (and not my user layout).

What do you mean by "the registration key was deleted?"

We uninstalled EA4.1, then installed 4.5 without needing to re-enter the key.

Yeah, this happened to me too. I pretty sure it was because I installed to a specific directory with v4.1, but then (forgetting that, of course  ) I installed to the default location with v4.5. I had to reenter my key...

Hi CJ,

4.1 was uninstalled by the 4.5 installer. When 4.5 was launched, it was requesting to re-enter the registration key.

I was not able to find the key entered for 4.1 in the registry.

How did you uninstall 4.1? Manually (meaning by explicitly uninstalling 4.1 *before* the 4.5 setup was started), or automatically (through the 4.5 setup)?

Can you confirm the user layout behavior I described? My 4.1 user layout was also "lost" during installation...

G'day Mike,

Whenever I install a new build of EA, I always un-install the old one (Start | Settings | Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs).

After that, I install the new build in the same directory as the old one.  The key is always found.

All that said, I still keep the key tucked away in a safe place, in case I ever need it.

Sorry, can't help with the visual layouts ... I've always used the default one.

I always install on top of the old one, and as long as I select the right directory, I never seem to have problems.
