New Class defaulting to non-empty Class
« on: December 13, 2004, 12:19:28 pm »
For some unfathomable reason, whenever I try to add a new class to a class diagram by clicking on the toolbox and then on the diagram, I get a non-empty class, one that is a valid class in the model. I really just want an empty class, though. Have I somehow set a template? How can I revert?

 ???

Please specify Version and Build. As far as I know there's no such a feature (maybe I'm wrong).

4.50.744, though the problem originated using 4.0. What I can't figure out is how the "default" class got clobbered in the first place.

 :o

Let me understand better, Let's suppose I have a class C1, wit attribuites at1 and at2 and a methos m1.  So when you create a new class from the UML toolbox, you shoul get an Empty Class1, instead you are getting the class C1?

Did you try creating the class in the Project Browser and the dragging it to the class diagram.

Have you ever imported a Profile?
Did you include that profile in the UML toolbox?
Have you ever imported a Pattern?

I'm working with 4.50.742, and works fine.
Regards.

Yes, I get one of the classes previously created rather than an empty class.

I have imported the Gang of Four Design Patterns and have done both forward and reverse engineering, but don't recall ever doing a profile (might have done so inadvertently though).

I suppose I could do a clean install but then I'd have to recreate the project. It is project specific, rather than global.

Creating a class in the Project View and then dragging it onto a diagram works as expected. The problem only occurs in using the Class icon on the toolbar.

I would apply a trial and error aproach and I would do the following:

1. Check Data Integrity /Tools/Data Management/DAta Integrity and see if EA detect some error

2. Delete the "Cable Guy" like Class (from the model, not only the diagram) and then create it again.

3. Delete the diagram where the class is drawn.

4. Try a data transfer to a new model.

There's nothing else I can recommend, at least by now. If nothing works, call 911 (EA Support)

Good luck
Regards.
