Unhiding labels on ports
« on: January 17, 2005, 08:07:03 am »
I've managed to hide a label for a port, but now I want to show it again, but I can't figure out how. I'm sure it's going to be pretty obvious, but I'm ahving a slow Monday and can't figure it out  :-/

Can anyone enlighten me?

Ta,

Niall.

Aren't Mondays a pain? Right-click the port and "Show Labels"  ;)

Maybe Tuesdays are a pain as well, as when I right click I don't get an option "Show Labels"  ??? I get about 17 options, the first one being "Port Properties".

The "Show Labels" command only appears if the label is hidden by right-clicking on the label and selecting "Hide Label". It won't appear if you have dragged the label somewhere else and mislaid it (e.g. it might be hidden behind some other element). Any chance that might be the problem?

By the way, what version of EA are you using?

Dragging the port somewhere else might help to find the label since it moves with the port. Also assigning a very long name temporarily could assist.

No luck with either suggestion. I've just downloaded the latest build to check that wasn't an issue and it's not. Either I've go something wrong with my machine or I'm really missing something here  :-[

Are you saying I have to click on the "hidden" label to show it again? I've tried using a very long name but that doesn't help. I haven't "mislaid" the labels.

I can add a new port to a composite, hide the label, but then the only thing I can select is either the port square itself or the composite object.

I don't want to sound wrong, but have you actually tried this out? create a class/object, add a port, hide the label and now get it back?  ???

Just tried and it works as designed.  Did you try to hide the port completely and unhide again. Or just remove the whole class and place it on the diagram again?

Sorted, the latest version has added the "show labels" option to the right-click menu that wasn't there before.

Thanks for all your help  ;D
