Ability to keep the same element selected

There must be an option for this but I haven't been able to find it.  Is there a way to keep an element or connector selected in the toolbox so that I don't have to keep going back to select the element or connector I want after I've dropped one on the canvas for the diagram?  

I usually throw all my elements on the canvas and then connect them all.  It's annoying to have to keep selecting the connector over and over in between adding one.

Hi,

holding CTRL and clicking on the diagram will place the same element on the diagram again. Pressing F3 will repeat the same connector type.
