How to get around this (Sequence Diagram)
« on: February 24, 2005, 04:10:41 am »
Hi all,

I am designing a Sequence Diagram for a Synchronisation application that I am creating, but have come into a problem/issue.

In my application I have a Class called 'Synch Manager'. This Class contains all methods that will create instances (objects) of Classes Such as Jobs, Steps, Schedules (these are all Classes in my Application, but are created through this 'Synch Manager' Class).

Now then, when designing a Sequence diagram, how do I exactly show the Classes Job, Step, Schedule etc and their interactions when the 'Synch Manager' Class is handling all these? Do I just show that 'Synch Manager' Class is sending messages to itself? With this 'Synch Manager' Class doing most of the work on behalf of the other classes, I can't see how I include them on the Sequence Diagram.

Thanks

(10 second answer)

Try considering the sequencing from a instance (objects) point of view rather than the classes.  You may see more of the interactions that way.
