Select Tables to Import is always empty
« on: April 22, 2005, 07:32:01 am »
Hello together,

I just found EA and wanted to use it for my project. With the evaluation version 4.51 I tried to reverse engineer my Oracle 9.2 database schema into a data model. I did everything as decribed in the help, but I always get a emty list of tables without any error message - so I cannot import anything.
At first i thought it depends on the ODBC Driver , so I imported the ORCL-HR Schema into an Access database with the same ODBC Driver - everything works fine - so the ODBC driver ist O.K.
Then I tried to import any table from the Access database into EA - this works as well - so the accress form EA to ODBC-Jet works also.
But on this workaround a loose all dependencies between the tables - so what can I do to import the tables directly form Oracle to EA?
Only if this works EAis usable for me

Hi Harald,

we reverse engineer Oracle databases on a regular basis with no problems. Chances are some of the options you have filled in is not right. Could you post here a screenshot of the Import schema screen?

Thanks!
Bruno

Thanks for your hint.
The problem was, that I entered the schema-owner "hr" in small letters, then it shows no tables.
But when I entered the schema-owner in capitals "HR" it worked. The import runs very fast and without any problems - great!

The only thing I'm looking for is an option, that the line-style is set to "Auto Routing" per default - so that large amounts of tables and links are better readable in the imported diagramm.

Best regards,

Harald
