Timing Rule Ticks
« on: May 04, 2005, 01:55:16 pm »
Does anyone know a way to control the timing rule on the bottom of a State Lifeline (or Value Lifeline) in a timing diagram?

I seem to always get exactly 10 ticks on my rule, and I really need to control this.  This UML allows me to control the ticks to mean whatever passage of time I would like to show.  I need to show quarters for each year over a period of 8 years.

I would prefer if I could control the number of ticks, and then  remove the labels (1, 2, 3...) on them as well.

Answer to my own question:

I figured this one out.  If you right-click on the diagram, there is a different right-click menu.  Ah-ha!

This menu has an option "Set Timeline Range" that lets me specify the range of numbers and a description of the units.

Could this item possibly be placed in the "Diagram" menu as well, so I can find it?

Also, a topic in the help file that would be found when I search for "timeline range" or perhaps even "rule" would be helpful as well.  I did search help before posting to the forum. :-)

Submit a defect/enhancement request to Sparx to ensure they see it.

The help file included with EA is 'at most' a 'get started' with EA and UML i think...

Most topics are treated lightly, and most of the times on the UI side of things (ie: help tells you how to work with the RTF generation form, not how to generate RTF docs or how to use the templates).

Use the forums, they are the perfect complement to EA's help.

Any idea when someone is going to publish 'EA for dummies' or 'EA Bible'... they would make a fortune... wait, i want to write that, don't steal my idea!!

I'm already drafting chapter 62 of mine.   ;)

btw:  I have an old leather jacket - its 28 years old to be precise.  Its full of nicks, cuts and scratches but its comfortable, very comfortable.  Most of my family think I ought to throw it out and get a new one - NO BL**DY WAY!  And yes, one of the sleeves is longer than the other.  :-X

I presume that it's consistent with one of your arms being longer than the other...  ;D
