Created MySQL repository or not?
« on: May 18, 2005, 12:10:00 pm »
Using the corporate edition, I followed the instructions for creating a repository for MySQL and it seemed to work.

However, nothing appears, e.g. start page stays there and the Project View pane remains blank.

Code: [Select]
ANNIE Repository --- DBType=0;Connect=Provider=MSDASQL.1;Persist Security Info=False;Data Source=EA ANNIE

What gives? Do I first have to populate it with values (diagrams) before I can use it as a new project? Thanks alot in advance.

Hello Kgish,

Do you transfer any model after generating the repository?

If not, transfer any model (ex. EABase, eap) by using
'Tools' -> 'Data Management' -> 'Data Transfer' command.

Hope this helps.

Alright, I knew that already. But that is for moving an 'existing'  repository (EAP-file) to the new one (MySQL database).

But does that mean I always have to initiate the newly created repository by populating it with a dummy (empty) project in order to make it usable from scratch?

No, you don't need to 'initialize' by moving EABase.eap.
That's just sample, and internally moving EABase
and moving other existing project are the same operation.

But if your project has some problem, the result may vary.
If you can move EAbase.eap to SQL Server,
it's an option to move the eap file at first and then
move all model data by XMI file.

Not so sure if I understand your answer (I don't). Could you please elaborate?

Sorry to reply late.

1. transfer EABase.eap to your repository
(If you can't open the transferred model at this point,
there is other problem.)
2. Open target(original) .eap file and export whole
model as XMI file (please refer help file about  importing/exporting XMI file)
3. Open repository of MySQL and import the XMI file.

Hope this helps.
