IU too slow in 5.00.765

I have been working with 4.51.751 with no problems at all.
I have updated to 5.00.765 and alas! UI is working too slow

I have detected important delays with menus and diagrams with several classes (Data Model).

I do not understand this problem, with previous versions the performance was very good with the same repository and projects.

CONFIRMED: I have returned to previous 4.51.751 and performance again is excellent!!

PS: We are working against a MySQL 4.1 repository

I also have a feeling that the 'UI' is a bit slower with V5 so I will add a reply to your post! In my case I'm using the Corporate edition on top of a remote SQLServer (MSDE) database. This is sometimes across a VPN which would obviously exacerbate any 'change' in speed.

It would be great if Sparx could investigate and/or confirm/deny this.

Hello Guys,

We have had a few reports of similar problems, and we are investigating them.  At this stage however we haven't been able to replicate the problem for ourselves.

Any further details that you can give us will help our investigations.

I see that both of you are using shared repositories.  Do other people connecting to the same repository with EA 5.0 experience the same slowness?  Do you get the same slowness when you access a different repository?

Details of the actual delays that you are experiencing and machine details would also help.

We have run timing tests and found a possible cause for your problem which we will fix. Should be in the next release which is due next week, I believe.

Sounds like good news :)

In case you are still after some configuration information then this is the setup I'm using:

EA V4.51 format repository hosted in MSDE instance on a server. Server is Celeron 1Ghz with 1GB RAM. SQLServer instance is used exclusively for EA. No interactive users of server. Server hosts a small SourceSafe DB and nothing else.

Client from LAN is running on Dell PWS530 dual P3 Xeon 1.5Ghz with 1GB RAM. EA is latest version. Ping times to server < 10ms. OS: Win2K Sp4
Client from VPN is P3 1Ghz with 512MB RAM. Internet connection 1024/256 ADSL. Ping times to server average 40-50 ms. OS: Win2K Sp4
