This depends on you or your client. EA has a profile for EP and an own set. I use a mixture of both 8)

BPEL/BPMN is a specific notation for documenting business processes. It has certain features that can be useful for that purpose, but it is certainly not mandatory. It's also not part of the UML standard.

EA supports three methods that can be used to document business processes.

The first is Eriksson-Penker notation, which I'm not deeply fond of but a lot of people like. There's a white paper on it available on this site, plus an EA extension for it. E-P notation allows you to document the inputs, outputs, and goals of the process as a whole but doesn't concern itself with what happens inside it.

Use cases are a good way of using text to describe the flow of a business process. They're good for verbal thinkers (like me) but less visually appealing.

If you want to diagram the process in EA your best bet is probably the activity diagram. Although more oriented toward OO thinking than BPMN, the activity diagram can express most of the complexity in process flow that is covered in BPMN, especially in its UML 2.0 form.
